Sam Finn and Stephen Gerard came up with the solution.
We were cleaning up files over a week old in /tmp and
/var/tmp via cron. We were apparently deleting a file
critical to sunview, most likely /var/tmp/vm_fonts-n0.
Killing the cron job seems to have fixed the problem.
Now if we can just identify all the tmp files important
to sunview so that we can keep /export/root from filling up!
