Hi all,
WIth the great help of sun-managers, I've got Open Windows running. I needed
to add a patch to my libresolv.a and remake my libc.so.x.y.z so it searches my
local hosts file before looking to dns for "localhost". When I added the patch,
OW worked fine. The patch is located on:

schizo.samsung.com:pub/usenet-archives/alt.sources/283[12].Z

My thanks goes to jp107@amtp.cam.ac.uk for helping me with this. Also thanks go to
the following people for their advice:

Subject: Problem trying to run OW

Hi all,
I have a SS1+ running 4.1 and I just decided I wanted to load and
run Openwindows2.0 on it. I got the SW loaded and added the proper path
to my path (/apps/openwin/bin and /apps/openwin/bin/xview). I ran the
command "openwin" and got this error:

{roadmap.proteon.com:196} openwin
Unable to resolve host localhost
/apps/openwin/bin/xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect
to X server
{roadmap.proteon.com:197}

Now, I read through the OW install manual, and the only time it mentions
anything about "localhost" is when your machine is NOT on a network. But
I am on a network (not running NIS if it makes a difference). I have an
entry for loacalhost in my /etc/hosts file:

127.0.0.1 localhost loghost

I'm not sure where to turn. Does anyone have any ideas or hints or a FM
I can go to (I've read through the "OpenWindows Version 2 Installation and
Start-Up Guide").

TIA and I'll post the solution if and when I get one!!

-Gary
