A quick response on this one brought in half-a-dozen entries in two
days - not all the same mind you...

Firstly a quick summary of the most common entry:

# offical Fujitsu blessed entry with some additions
# Date: Fri, 15 Mar 91 15:01:00 -0500
# From: Eric A Pearce <eap@bu-pub.bu.edu>
# Disable read-ahead cache by removing jumper 5-6 from CN9 until you
# receive a firmware upgrade from Fujitsu to correct that bug
# This entry added 17MAR91 by Charles A. Finnell of MITRE <finnell@mitre.org>
disk_type = "FUJITSU-M2266SA" \
        : ctlr = MD21 : fmt_time = 2 \

Thanks to all who answered:

Brian Bartholomew <bb@math.ufl.edu>

Thanks especially to Brian who enclosed a whole table of useful entries,
enclosed below with other replies.

Obviously with these clever SCSI controllers translating requests the exact
numbers can be jiggled a bit, but these are a useful starting point.

Thanks again,
Calum.

Here's what we're using on our Sun 3 with SunOS 4.0.3.

You'll note that it wastes a bit of space to stay under the 2**21 limit.

Remember to make all partitions (except 1) multiples of the 16-cylinder
group size, for the most efficient use of disk space.

I recommend using the default newfs options of optimize time and 10% minfree,
because we had some trouble with one partition when we used newfs with optimize
space and 1% minfree. Other than that, it's worked great since March.

Best of luck! -- Charlie <finnell%mdf@mwunix.mitre.org>

This is the format.dat entry for a Fujitsu 2266sa disk drive on a
Sun computer. You will only get 1.0737GB due to the SCSI limitation
in the SunOS drivers. If you format on a machine which uses
extended SCSI (i.e Solbourne), you can get the entire 1.2GB.

For more information, see Fujitsu Tech Tip #002 from 08 Aug 1990.
