I cc'd a copy of my original post (and this pseudo summary) to the Probe/X
people, but I have heard nothing from them so far.
The system is a little less busy this morning, but here are the numbers I got.
top 48% idle
probex 73% idle
mpstat 49% idle avg, 55% cpu 0, 42% cpu 1
permeter 50% idle.
>From this it looks as though probex is out to lunch.

I have a 630/120 running SunOS 4.1.2.
perfmeter in the dial mode shows both average and current cpu usage around
80%.
top 3.0 shows cpu states of
Cpu states: 47.9% user, 0.0% nice, 16.5% system, 31.6% idle, 3.9% spin
which tells me my cpu is about (100-31.6) 68.4% used.
Probe/x for this particular arch shows current/overall cpu usage at 41.6/38.4%
How does one decide how busy my system/cpu's (2 of them) rally is/are?
