I asked about the configuration of the Maxtor LXT 535 ST. I got a
number of responses: Here is the format.dat I cam up with.

disk_type = "Maxtor LXT535ST" \
        : cache = 0x00 \
        : ctlr = SCSI : fmt_time = 4 : atrks = 7 \
        : ncyl = 1547 : acyl = 5 : pcyl = 1552 : nhead = 11
        : nsect = 61 : rpm = 3600 : bpt =31370
partition = "Maxtor LXT535ST" \
        :c = 0, 1038037

The rest of the partitions are up to you. Thanks to those who helped.

BTW. I had a interesting problem when I connected it up. If it was
the
first device on the SCSI bus, the system would not "see" it. If I moved
it futher down the bus, all worked well. I am Using an SS 2 with
4.1.3. I am happy with it where it is, but if someone has an idea...
