Problem: rsh/rlogin intermittently dying

Solution: An immediate fix was to restart/refresh inetd on the
           troubled client (kill -HUP 'inetd-pid').

A more permanent solution was to eliminate any blank
lines or space delimiters in the /etc/services and
/etc/rpc files, then make the files in /var/yp to
update the maps on all clients. I found spaces in
lines for service entries we have added, and there
was a blank line at the end of /etc/services.

I will continue to keep and eye on my systems for a recurrence
of this problem and will post any additional information I feel
may be useful.

Many thanks to all those who responded to my post!!
