SUMMARY: ELCs and WordPerfect5.1

Managers,

My original question is at the end of this summary.

The replys I received varied from "mine seem to work OK" to "we
also have this problem".

Some suggested that the file .wpc51.set should also be in the users
home directory. This was the case and did not solve the problem.

Some suggested that the system .wpc51.set file needed to be in the
root partition of the diskless client. This also made no difference.

Some suggested the need to mount the file system read/write - it already
was.

Some suggested it may have been the requirement to run some WP
programs setuid to root on a NFS mounted file system. I tried this and it
did not seem to fix this particular problem.

Marcel Bernards hit the nail on the head when he said the version 5.1
has problems working in a NFS automounted environment with the locking feature
turned on. Disabling the locking feature causes the printing to fail, not
terribly useful in a Word Processor. We could not work out a workaround to get
this problem solved. We therefore use the ELCs as X-terms when running WP5.1,
this works fine.
