This is the SUMMARY to the question : EPROM settings for monitor
----------------------------------------------------------------

My original question was:

================================================================
We tried to change the display resolution on a SPARCclassic
running SunOS 4.1.3. According to the manual "Hardware Owner's
Guide" we should have typed :

        setenv output-device screen:r1152x900x66

at the system's ok prompt and then reboot

the problem is that by mistake we typed

        setenv output-device screen:1152x900x66, we missed
the "r". After the boot command at system's ok prompt
the system didn't work and we only got black screen.

We powered the system off and on and still black screen.
We suppose that the wrong value of the parameter output-device
has made the system not to go up.

Is there any way to repair the damage ? If we could be able
to get the ok prompt everything would be o.k but the system
doesn't respond at Stop(L1) , A keys ... Maybe if we could do
reset at EPROM in order to get its default.

I received many replies
############################################################################
-SUMMARY- :
        1. Press L1-N while booting (This will reset the eeprom back to
           defaults).
        2. Hook a dump terminal up to ttya, disconnect the screen and
           keyboard and re-boot.
        3. Rlogin into the machine from the net, set the eeprom and re-boot.

I tried the first solution and it worked fine !
