change the sendmail.cf file in rule set 3 like below:

# convert old-style names to domain-based names
# All old-style names parse from left to right, without precedence.
R$-!$+ $@$>6$2<@$1.uucp> uucphost!user -> user@uucphost.uucp
# the following must be added
R$%l!$+ $@$>6$2<@$1> localhost!user -> user@localhost
