Sun Managers,

Here is the long overdue summary on the ld error with Answerbook.

I include the original posting:

>When I start Answerbook in Solaris 2.3 I'm getting the
>following message:

>Starting AnswerBook Navigator...ld.so.1:
>/usr/openwin/bin/navigator: fatal:
>/usr/openwin/lib/locale/fr/XLIBI18N/xlibi18n.so.1:
>can't open file: errno=2
>
>Now, in /usr/openwin/lib/locale there is indeed no directory
>called "fr".
>
>Where is the link editor getting it's queue to look for an
>"fr" directory? (The LANG environment variable is set to
>"en_US"; is this related?).

Most everyone else suggested I check the LC_CTYPE environment variable.
I set the following variables and everything is ok now.

LANG=en_US
LC_CTYPE=iso_8859_1
LC_NUMERIC=C
LC_TIME=C

Thanks for your suggestions.
