        Hi, SUN gurus !
Sorry for the late summary, but I was busy with the modem connection
all the week. Now the modem is working, and I'm glad to send you the summary.

Thanks to the people, who answered me on my question:
Paul Hostrup-Jessen <phj06@bk.dk>
Greg Price <greg@defcen.gov.au>
Gary Richardson <Gary.Richardson@proteon.com>
Steven Grevemeyer <grevemes@VTC.TACOM.Army.Mil>
Steve Asam <asam@symplex.com>
 and others ....

My problem, as I see now, was very simple: I was trying to connect the
modem to the port ttyb (because a printer is connected to this computer's
port ttya). Now I've changed the connections - modem to ttya and printer
to ttyb - and it is working !!!

So, here is a short summary, how to connect the modem:

1) create the device:
        mknod /dev/ttyd0 c 12 0
   (ttyd0 is for connecting to port A, ttyd1 - to port B)

2) edit /etc/ttytab:
        ttyd0 "/usr/etc/getty std.9600" dialup on remote

3) change the PROM settings:
        eeprom ttya-rts-dtr-off=true
        eeprom ttya-ignore-cd=false

4) Reboot the computer.

5) Make sure, that the getty is running on port A:
        ps ax | grep ttyd0

6) Check the modem settings. My settings are the following (but I don't
think that they are all OK):

7) Try to connect to the computer from another modem (from PC etc...)
If you get the "login" prompt, you are OK.

Thanks to all for your help.
