Original Question:

Could someone provide me with the format.dat entry for a Seagate
ST32430ND drive? I checked the Summaries and Seagate's ftp site without
success. The system is running SunOS v4.1.3_U1.

Answer:

disk_type = "Seagate ST32430N" : ctlr = SCSI \
        : ncyl = 3916 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 3918 \
        : nhead = 9 : nsect = 119 : rpm = 5400 \
        : bpt = 60928

or

Get a hold of the scsiinfo program. It will generate a format.dat entry
for you.

Note: I tried scsiinfo on other drives that I have here for which I
got the information from the manufacturer. scsiinfo provided an entry
for the drive but it did not match the information provided from the
manufacturer. I have to believe the manufacturer's information is correct.
