SUMMARY: tcp_wrappers & kernel panics

Sorry it took so long for a summary, but I finally got a resolution of
sorts.

First of all, my original question:

>> I have recently installed tcp wrappers v7.2 on a Sparc 10 running
>> Solaris 2.4 with all the recommended patches. Since I installed it I
>> have been having frequent kernel panics. I have included the syslog

I got several useful responses from the following people.

Kevin Sheehan (kevin@more.com)
Jeff Murphy (jcmurphy@smurfland.cit.buffalo.edu)
George Ross (gdmr@dcs.ed.ac.uk)

Kevin's suggestion to boot with the kadb kernel was most helpful. The
tech at sun was really glad to hear that I was at a kadb prompt when I
got him on the phone.

It turns out that the problem had nothing to do with tcp_wrappers at
all. George Ross hit the nail on the head, I have been bitten by a
known bug (BugID 1189278). If you run snoop on a PPP link, eventually
you will get a kernel panic. Unfortunately the solution is to "don't
do that".
