We have 3480 tape drive connected to a SC2000..
You will have to get in touch with Sun Consult ( I do not have the number) -
they will send you a 1/4" tape of the device driver for the tape drive (IBM)..
the tape/documentation would cost you a couple of hundred bucks...

Good Luck....

We are a company that sells new and second hand SUN workstations
in addition to add on equipment.

We are currently working with an installation where the customer
is going to read IBM 3480 tapes. Necessary software and a SCSI tape
unit will be installed early August.

We can quote you for such an installation if you are interested.

I bought a Fujitsu FJT2485B 3480 single tape cartridge drive from
Following are the answers to my question.
Concorde Technologies about a year ago. It's attached to a Sun 630MP.
We don't use it much, but it seems to work. I think the Storage Technology
unit is heavier duty, but it costs more, too.

We have a 3480 tape drive attached to a SS1000. I believe we purchased this from Andataco (http://www.andataco.com/).
