My original question was :

I've gotten many replies, as usual.

First of all, several people sent the part of their /etc/format.dat file
concering this disk :
> disk_type = "FALCON 4.0GB DSP5400"\
> : ctlr = SCSI : fmt_time = 6\
> : ncyl = 3064 : acyl = 2 : pcyl = 3066 : nhead = 26 : nsect = 98\
> : rpm = 5400 : bpt = 59400
>
> partition = "FALCON 4.0GB DSP5400" \
> : disk = "FALCON 4.0GB DSP5400" : ctlr = SCSI\
> : a = 0, 40768 : b = 16, 78988 : c = 0, 7807072 : g = 47, 3844932\
>
        : h = 1556, 3842384
Secondly, several people pointed out that the the "scsiinfo" command can
generate this kind of information since version 3.0 . This turns out to
work very well. As indicated in the man-page of scsiinfo, their may be
slight differences, though (for instance, the bpt entry is an estimate).
Check an Archie-server for "scsiinfo".
