hello admins..

sorry for the delay in posting this message, but I have tons of work.. :)

The original quesiton was..

hello admins..

We just bought a new Sun Ultra 1 170 and i just installed Solaris 2.5.1 with
CDE 1.0.2 and works just fine.

I have to start compiling GNU packages, but I wonder with what??

I have to compile gcc 2.7.2 (dont have cc) with an older version of
gcc (eag and chiken problem)...will that use 64 bits???

how do i get most of the compilation of bash, make, emacs, etc using
the 64 code??

Thanks..

*************************************************************************

and the answer is that Solaris 2.5.1 is 32 bits just as Solaris 2.5,
so no matter what gcc or program you compile, everyone with an Ultra
is still waiting for the 64 bit OS version...maybe Solaris 3 ?

Solaris 2.5.1 will work in sun4m as well as sun4u, but if you have a
sun4u (ultra) then you better use 2.5.1 .

I also received a pointer to a WWW site with many utilities already
compiled, if you guys/gals want them...

http://smc.vnet.net/solaris_2.5.html

Thanks to all the people who took the time..
