Thanks to all who responded.
Responses stated that you could use tip or cu to monitor the raid. I chose
tip but I'm sure either would work. Add these lines to /etc/remote:
raid:\
:dv=/dev/term/a:br#19200:
where a is the serial port and 19200 is the baud rate.
and then simply
tip raid. Works like a champ.
