Many thanks to the members of this list. Again you all have proven to be a
great source of information and help.

*** The original post:

>I have been trying to share my cdrom from my pc running SolarisX86 v2.5 and
>have been having problems. I can share a directory and see anything beneath
>that shared directory when I connect from another machine, but when I share
>the cdrom directory and connect to it I can only see the root partition of the
>cd and nothing beneath it.
>
>Here is what I am doing.
>
>I edited the /etc/dfs/dfstab file to reflect:
> share -F nfs /cdrom
>
>I then stopped and then started:
> /etc/init.d/nfs.server
>
>From another machine logged in as root I executed:
> mount machinename:/cdrom /john (/john being the directory that
> created for the temporary mounting
                                            of the cdrom.)

*** The apparent fix:

there were many duplicates so I assume that this was a stuipd post but this was
the one that worked from the first try:

>Hi John,
>
>The following worked well for me (it's pretty much straight out of the
>answerbook):
>
>* nfs sharing the cdrom
>
>- on the local machine insert a cdrom into the cdrom drive, and add the
>following line to /etc/dfs/dfstab:
>
> share -F nfs -o ro -d "cdrom directory" /cdrom/cdrom0
>
> - then run the following command for the new exports to take
>effect:
> # shareall
>
>- on the remote machine log in as root, create a mount point for the
>local cdrom (if necessary), and then mount it
>
> # mkdir -p /cdrom/remote_cdrom
> # mount remote_machine:/cdrom/cdrom0 /cdrom/remote_cdrom
>
>Hope this helps,
