Only two replies, thanks to
Reto Lichtensteiger <rali@meitca.com>
Bob Woodward <bobw@kramer.filmworks.com>

Basically I had followed the procedure for renaming a client in
the installation manual. There is a difference between this
procedure and that given on the Legato web server,
"http://www.legato.com/support" technical bulletin 138.
The bulletin adds an extra step specifically for servers, after
mv'ing the database you edit the nsr/res/nsr.res file and
delete the client entry for the server. I don't know whether
missing this step caused my problem, or whether my recollection
is imperfect and I screwed up :-(

To get out of the problem I've recovered the last old database,
gone through the move and checked that it was correctly picked
up by nwrecover and am now using 'scanner' to update the file
index for any missing backups that I might need. All seems
OK but scanning tapes does take time...I had originally hoped
that someone had a file index merge program tucked away but
apparently not.

Cheers,
  Stuart
