Original question:

Dear SMs,

Are there any anti-virus packages for sendmail I can install to check
all incoming/passing mail to the system for virusses?

Thanks

Answer:

"It's unclear to me why you would want to do such a thing, since viri
are not a significant threat to Unix systems, but the answer is no --
although some people may *claim* to have such packages. The problem
is that Unix's flexibility allows email to contain all sorts of data
-- uuencoded, gzipped, compressed, tar'd, etc. -- and that it would be
quite easy to disguise any malevolent piece of code using one or more
of those."

Packages out there are Interscan Viruswall: http:/www.trendmicro.com
