cdrom device busy errors

Thanks to everyone who responded.

First my original question:

I run a Sparc Ultra 1 with CDE and I'm trying to play an audio cd with
workman or xcdplayer. Unfortunately I keep getting the following error:

failed to open device /dev/rsr0: Device busy

The Solution:

It appears that vold (Volume managment) daemon is started at boot time.
With some versions of workman or xcdplayer, this causes a locking
problem. Until I can get another version of workman/xcdplayer and
recompile, I work around involved killing vold before running
workman/xcdplayer.

Thanks again for the help.

Cheers,
