Mail*LinkŪ SMTP SUMMARY>sendmail not bound

We found the culprit as the replies were coming in. But thanks
just the same for the replies.

In /etc/nsswitch.conf, aliases was set as:

aliases: files nis

Changing this to:

aliases: files

solved the problem.

Orig query:

When I (or anyone, I guess) invoke mail from the command line and
finish with the dot-on-a-line-by-itself, the following message is
returned:

Cannot bind to domain ourdomain: no such map in server's domain:
Bad file number

Additional info:
sendmail command: /usr/lib/sendmail -bd -q1h
ourdomain is our yp domain name
machine is E3000
O/S is 2.5.1
yp is NIS.

I have compared all files in /etc/mail to those on an E5000 at 2.5.1 and
believe I can rule out any of them as culprits. I have checked out NIS and
it seems to be just fine. I checked the hosts files on the two machines
and they are as similar as they should be.
