Hi, Friends:

My original question follows. The answer
to my question is YES. The Volume Manager
sits on top of the underlying OS, so it's
ok to use ufsdump/ufsrestore to do the
backup/restore for SPARCstorage Array (SSA)

Thanks for reply.

Sincrely,
Tim

Hi, Gurus:

I have several SUN Enterprise 3000 systems
running Solaris 2.5.1 with SUN's
SPARCstorage Arrays (SSA) attached to them.
These SSAs has SUN's volume manager V. 2.3
(ie., SUN's version of Veritas Volume
Manager) running. (Note: NOT DiskSuite.)

My question is very simple: can I use
ufsdump/ufsrestore to backup/restore the
volumes controlled by the volume manager?
If the answer is yes, is there any limit?
What I mean is, for example, if the volumes
that I'd like to backup is stripped mirror
or RAID-5, can I still do it?

Thanks in advance.
