SUMMARY: Adding a 1gig disk as swap (fwd)

The answer to my question is no, there is no need to
run newfs on a new hard drive if I plan to use the
entire drive for swap. Several people added that even
though I planned to use the whole drive as swap I should
still add cylinder 0 to the 0 partition (and the rest
to the 1 partition) when formating the drive so the
partition information will not get corrupted.

This is how I partitioned the new disk and everything
is now working perfectly.

Subject: Adding a 1gig disk as swap

Hi all,

I need to add a brand new ibm 1.2 gig hard drive to an
Ultra 1. I only want this drive to act as a swap partition.
My question is: Do I need to run newfs on the drive after
I partition it? I plan to partition the entire drive
under partition 1 (the swap partition).

Thanks for your help!!
