Answers:
1) Snoop gets confused with so many virutals. Run snoop with -d option
    or install patch 104960-01
2) Ping was reporting ICMP unreachables from another process. I do
    believe that the culprit was an rwhod daemon on one machine and
    not the other. I have since killed the daemon and no more messages.
