SUMMARY: Problems Installing Sybase on a Storage Array - HELP

The original problem is included at the end.
  Thanks to all that replied.
The answer was a combination of screw ups (all mine).
I DID use the GUI to set permissions on the Volumes that I had created.
I WAS logged in as the Sybase user to install Sybase.
BUT...I misspelled one of the volume names when I created it, and when I
used the sybsetup to create the Application Server, I spelled it correctly.
So, of course, it failed. Unfortunately, the Sybase failure message said
the permissions were wrong, not that the volume didn't exist, so off I went
on a tangent.
In the process of changing the permissions on the /dev/vx/rdsk/rootdg
directory (which I didn't need to do, really), one of the "good" volume
names was deleted. So, at that point I was in real trouble. But the
installation of Sybase appeared to complete successfully. It was when it
tried to start the Sybase server that it said that the volume wasn't there.
Needless to say (but I will anyway), I should have paid much closer
attention. I restarted from scratch. I deleted all of the volumes I had
created, then I created 4 new volumes (spelled correctly), set the
permissions on them to the Sybase user, and installed Sybase the second
time without any problems. When you do it correctly, the whole precess
takes around an hour.
  Thanks to those that responded.
