SUMMARY: Re: problems with inetd

The 2 reply's I received, both suggested DNS. Likely cause, but it turns
out it was a (CkeckPoint) Solstice Firewall-1 / Novell conflict. The
Novell clients are running on one of four subnets coming out of the
firewall. Although the domain has 16 bits of addressable space to use,
the Novell network is really a subnet which only has 10 bits of
addressable space. The firewall itself is the only host with access to
the full 16 bit. The Novell Servers with their current software and
modules insist on operating as if they have the full access to that
entire 16 bit addressable space, even though they don't. We need to
install BootP or some other module to correct this. We've got a temp fix
until then. It's really much more detailed/complicated. Email me if you
are interested.
