SUMMARY: Strange X11 behaviour

Yet again the list comes through with flying colours.

My original question was;
>
>For some time we have been observing a niggling problem which,
>although not critical, is causing my users difficulties. I have
>tried to solve it myself but without success. No references to
>a similar problem have been found in the archive so it is time
>to ask this list.

>The situation: we have a third party application, written in C
>with an X11 (Motif) interface that runs on two of our SUNs. One
>of the SUNs is a SPARC 10 with Solaris 2.4 and the other is an
>UltraSPARC clone running Solaris 2.5.1. The executables on both
>machines are identical and both executables run correctly EXCEPT
>for one "feature".

>During the execution of the code the user is presented with a

>fine - the list of files is given with a filter applied to

>However on the UltraSPARC/Sol2.5.1 machine the filter does not
>seem to be applied - all file names are fully qualified! This
>makes choosing a particular file a guessing game.

>We do not have access to the source code of the application and

The problem was a broken Motif library /usr/dt/lib/libXm.so as
identified exactly by Al Hopper. Solution was to apply the latest
patch which solved the problem immediately.

Patch Ids:

   103186-28.tar.gz - for Solaris 2.5
   103461-18.tar.gz - for Solaris 2.5.1

available from anonymous ftp on ugle.unit.no.
