Answer:
The command: sys-unconfig should do it for you. It will remove all
references to the hostname and name services and then shut down the
computer. When you reboot it goes through the system id configuration
(hostname, IP, name services, etc.) It is probably the safest way versus
editing files manually. You may want to save a copy of nsswitch.conf and
resolv.conf before you use sys-unconfig.
