SUMMARY: Sparc2 w/ Solaris 2.6 won't boot

Original problem :
-----------------

We've just patched a Solaris 2.6 (8/97) running on a Sparc 2.
The patches have been correctly applied with no problems whatsoever,
but the station hangs when rebooting.

Here is the error message :

  boot: cannot find
  boot: error loading interpreter {}
  Elf read error
  boot failed
  Enter filename [/platform/sun4c/kernel/unix]:

Anyone ever seen that before?

Suggestions :
-------------

Matthew R. Fuerst <FuersMR@northamerica.stortek.com> suggested the
problem might come from the Sparc 2 being a sun4c platform.
I checked, the patch clusters include patches for several
architectures when applicable, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Solution :
----------

We wiped the disk and installed the 3/98 release of 2.6, patched
it, and it works just fine. I'd appreciate it if any managers
out there who have successfully patched 8/97 releases could inform
me, precising if it's a sun4c or sun4m platform.

Thanks,

        Daniel
