SUMMARY: Apache variables.

Thanks for all of the emails.

I had part of the solution using remote user. This will only work,
however, if the cgi script is located after the directory containing
the .htaccess file. E.g.

/htdocs is the web root

/htdocs/homepages is the start of the actual web pages with the
.htaccess file in it.

/htdocs/homepages/cgi-bin is where my cgi scripts sit which reference
remote_user.

The problem was that my cgi scripts were in /htdocs/cgi-scripts which
was outside of the realm controlled by the htaccess file.

Too many names to mention, but you know who you are.

Once again, many thanks.

=============

Dear Sun managers

This may not be the appropriate list, so please forgive me if it is not.

I have just installed Apache 1.3.3 onto my Spar 10 (Solaris 2.6).

I am using .htaccess to control access to the directories.

My problem is this, is there any way to pass the username entered, vi
htaccess, into a perl script.

Simon

P.S. Does anyone know of an apache/perl mail group?
