SUMMARY: UE450 does not see A5000 with Sol 2.6 (Sol 7 sees it)

Hi all,

I thought I'd posted the summary, but then I got a request for it so being
unsure, I'm posting it now.

I had a StorEdge A5000 array (previously known as Sun Enterprise Network
Array or SENA) connected to two UE450s. Both machines could see this when
Solaris 7 was installed. But not with Solaris 2.6.

  # luxadm probe
No Network Array enclosures found in /dev/es

  # format
<The disks from the array were not listed in format>

Turns out that I needed the packages SUNWifp and SUNWifph from the CD of the
host adapter for the fiber channel called "Sun StorEdge PCI FC-100". We were
missing this CD from our package, so I did not realize this for a while.

After rebooting the system (reboot -- -r), I was able to see it:

  # luxadm probe
  Found
  SENA Name:xxx Node WWN:yyy
    Logical Path:/dev/es/ses0
    Logical Path:/dev/es/ses1

However, "vxinstall" (Volume Manager 2.6) still claimed that it needed a
license. This is a bug in the Volume Manager. Patch 106606-02 was what it
took to resolve this. (One of the Sun engrs I spoke with before I tracked
out the bug number insisted that there was no reason this should fail, and
he was sure I was doing something wrong).

Oh well, it works now.

Thanks,
Rasana
