[SUMMARY] setting up DiskSuite mirroring with jumpstart

Hello All,

The basic concensus on this was that you could mirror the root
disk after you do an install with jumpstart. You could do
the install of the DiskSuite package with a finish script in
the jumpstart setup. You also could format your disks so that
the are ready for use with DiskSuite.

Doing the mirror is a little more tricky. You have to create
a couple of rc scripts and put them in /etc/rc3.d.

The first script should use the DiskSuite command line tools to setup
the metadb, setup one way mirrors, edit the /etc/vfstab file so it will
use the one way mirrors, and do the metaroot commmand. It should also
copy another script in /etc/rc3.d to be run after the system is rebooted,
it should delete itself from /etc/rc3.d so it won't be run on the next reboot
and it should reboot the system.

The second script should again use the DiskSuite command line tools to
setup the second half of the mirror (metattach), delete itself from /etc/rc3.d,
and reboot the system again.

I haven't had a chance yet to write scripts or to test out the ideas
that you have given to me.

Hello All,

I am setting up a jumpstart server to install Solaris 2.6 machines.
One of the things that I'de like to be able to do (if possible) is
automate the mirroring of the root disk as part of the jumpstart install.
I will be using DiskSuite 4.2 for mirroring.

After reading some of the documentation for creating mirrors with
DiskSuite from the command line, it doesn't seem like it will be
possible.

Has anyone ever done this before? Do you have any pointer to
references for me? I've been looking thru the sun managers archives
and haven't come across anything yet.

Thanks in advance.
