SUMMARY: Ideas for security tools?

Hi all,

Apologies for this summary being so late, but I (a) wanted to take a
little time to catch any possible response and (b) I then got wrapped up
in production problems. I'm sure most of you understand that!

Anyway, my original post was along the lines of:

"Security tools, lots of them. I want ideas on what is good, what is
bad, and what each can do. Needs to cover network, filesystem, etc.,
security."

Of course, I phrased it somewhat more diplomatically than that; I'm just
summarising my original post too.

The I received responses from several people recommending the following
websites as initial exploratory locations:

http://www.cerias.purdue.edu
http://www.fish.com/security/titan.html
http://www.securityfocus.com

Thanks to those who responded, much appreciated. After looking around
I've decided to opt for SAINT as an initial method for probing my
systems for network holes, and I'll continue on to evaluate other
filesystem/password security checking systems soon.

Cheers,

-Preston de Guise.
