Summary: interesting ping response

All, I got quite a few responses, and all of them saying that the IP address
that I pinged could have been a broadcast address. But it is not, the IP
address I pinged is like *.*.191.66 with a 30 bit subnet mask. This IP
address is assigned to a serial subinterface on a Cisco router.

I guess this should not be called as a summary, but I think I should post it
out anyway. Thank all the people replied!

Subject: interesting ping response

Hi, all, I got some interesting result when I used 'ping -s' to ping an
interface on one of our routers.

Here is the statistics of the ping:

---- PING Statistics----
3 packets transmitted, 69 packets received, 23.00 times amplification
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 69/890/2039

It looks like that I got more ICMP response packets than what I sent out. I
have never seen this happened before, could anyone help me out? Thanks!
