Summary: Booting Solaris 2.6. on E420R

Thanks for the help. The answers pointed to
booting from the Operating Environment CD that came
with the system. It was in the book with the
LARGE ORANGE label that said "Use this to install ....."

boot cdrom Operating Environment Installation Disk, Feb 2000

NOTE: Turn off any extra disk array. If the installation
sequence finds more than 15 spindles, the java script crashes.

The installation works OK, but is not as easily customized
as the webstart nor the interactive installation.

Next time, I will check the sun-managers archives first.

Thanks

greg

I had a similar problem on a clone. Since they are the same
motherboard, let me tell you what the clone (tatung)
 support team told me.

You need to take the CPU from 440 down to 400 for it to work.
 at the prom type:

> d# 404 at-speed
> reset

That sets the cpu at 404 Mhz instead of 440.
