The IP address is hardcoded (hex) in the sybase interfaces file.
This file can be modified via the sybinit command.

Thanks to all who replied.

Subject: Sybase reconfig question ...

I recently changed the IP addresses on my network. This included the
Solaris 2,7 system running Sybase 11. Sybase will no longer start
correctly since the IP was changed. Temporarily put the IP back to the
original number and Sybase started properly. Cannot see any place in the
sybase directory where the ip address
is
hardcoded.

The error log looks like this.

00:00/09/01 11:49:38.12 kernel Using config area from primary master

The sybase interfaces file looks like:

## SYBASE on jupiter
## Services:
## query tcp (5010)
## master tcp (5010)

SYBASE
        query tli tcp /dev/tcp \x000213920a0000020000000000000000
        master tli tcp /dev/tcp \x000213920a0000020000000000000000

The hex numbers may relate to the ip address. Not sure how to reconfigure
sybase on solaris.

TIA

Jack
