Summary: Limiting connections to Unix hosts

I raised two points;

1) Can I limit connections to my server from teh foul NT box?
A. Yes, use a firewall process (IPChains etc...) This is over kill for my
needs and more admin time that I wanted to devote to this. In the end I have
pushed for the Nt server to be sorted out (after all it's my problem!)

2) asp in apache - a resounding yes! www.chilisoft.com the place to go!
Lot's of people saying to move to php.

Thanks all!

Annie

Subject: Limiting connections to Unix hosts

Sol 2.6 running a db server...

Hi all...

Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) running on an NT server is
hogging a Sun box of mine by opening multiple connections to the db server
running on it. It's whacking up the CPU usage and locking out other users by
taking up all the db server licenced connections. (once it runs out of
connectioms IIS cr*ps itself and fall over, he he he.)

Any ideas how to limit the number of connections allowed from a specific
host at Unix level? I need to allow other hosts to connect while stop this
one from opening more than one or two connects.

I will, of course, summarise.

Cheers

P.S. I have already suggested using Apache on a unix flavor, was told that
.asp won't work with Apache, is that right?
