Hey everyone,

Thanks for all your solutions, they've helped me a lot.

Most of the suggestions sent to me said that gzip has a limit of 2GB
under version 1.3 or unless it is compiled to support larger files by
adding the following flags to the compiler: -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE
-D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=3D64. All other gzip related questions can be =
checked
out in www.gzip.org .

Another alternative that was offered to me by Eric Paul was to use the
bzip2 command that supports large files.

Thanks a lot to:

Eric Paul
John Sulivan
Christian Iseli
John Kerbawy
Bernard Du Breuil
Johnie Stafford
David H. Briefly
Justin Stringfellow
Kent Perrier
Tony Hudson
Julian Simpson=20
Thomas Knox & last but not least
Ziv Saar

Hope I haven't left anybody out,
