Folks -

Thanks for the quick responses. The problem was on the client side and
switching to the serial B port worked (rebooting now so that I can use
serial on the client).

Thanks,
Debbie

The responses were ...

John Marrett:
#. is supposed to abort back to the lom prompt.

Is it possible that you need to reboot the client machine (or soft reset
it, or restart tip or whatever you are using, etc..)

Netra T1's currently have an issue where some of them hang and don't
respond at all, however if you rebooted it it shoudl respond. I would
think that perhaps it's the other end that is the problem...

Jeff Welsch:
In the console session you can enter #. to cause the system to break to
LOM, if that is what you mean. Hope this helps.

My original message:
OK, I've got a loaner Netra T1 that I'm trying to setup but am having
major difficulties. I've got it serially connected to another loaner
Sun system and had a LOM prompt, but could not run the initial setup to
get it connected on the network (since we don't have NIS servers on the
same subnet with the system). So I went thru the setup for a non-networked
connection so that I could get to a command prompt and then was editing
the files by hand to setup networking.

However, I inadvertently cat'ed a binary file (more auto* -- oops) and now
I am unable to get the LOM prompt back again. I've tried booting the system
to see if it would come up on the net, but it's not doing that either. So,
at this point I have neither a system prompt nor a LOM prompt. Is there a
way to reset LOM (without needing a local system prompt)? Or how can I now
"talk" to this system to fix things?
