I got A LOT of possible reasons why I was having problems using DiskSuite mirrored metadevices as Sybase devices and this is the one that solved the problem.

To even expand on that you can use the first cylinder ( 0 ) of the disk, just done use that slice for a metadevice that you want sybase to use.

Thanks Eric, and to everyone else that help out too!

As long as you don't the first cylinder of a disk as part of a metadisk that you wish to use for a Sybase raw partition, it should work fine. Just start your first partition at cylinder 1, rather than 0.

I'm at the point of installing Sybase on a fresh system and I am at the point where you specify the master device partition and running into problems using /dev/md/dsk/d30 (d30 is the meta disk mirror made up of d31 and d32 I want to use for)

    Thanks, Paul.
