Hi All,

A combination of having tcpd for ipv4 while specfiying tcp6 in inetd
and having a typo in hosts.allow.

i deployed tcp_wrappers_ipv6-7.6-sol8-sparc-local and corrected the
typo,

Thanks to all as always for pointers.

Hi All,

I have to open one of my server to telnet ( so networks team can
connect from a router - which has a non ssh client ios installed - dont
ask )

Anyway i deployed tcp wrappers, and configured inetd.conf as such,
uncommenting and editing the telnet line.

telnet stream tcp6 nowait root /usr/local/bin/tcpd
in.telnetd

edited hosts.allow to add in the ip of the router

in.telnetd: n.n.n.n

edited hosts.deny

ALL: ALL

now i see telnet listining in netstat

      *.telnet *.* 0 0 24576 0
LISTEN

when i try to connect i dont get anymore

telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
as expected - but i dont get a login

i get after a short several second wait

Connection closed by foreign host.

seems my hosts.allow or hosts.deny wrong ?

Any clues ?

Thanks

laurence
