Finally I found lockd and restarted it on the nfs server with:
    #  /etc/init.d/nfs.client stop
    #  /etc/init.d/nfs.client start

That solved the clear_locks issue, locks beeing held for NFS client are
deleted by
    # clear_locks -s <nfs_server>
