Thanks to all who replied, This is partial summary ...

Basically, lustatus was returning the error and was unable to create a boot
environment. lutab was empty but after adding the entry to lutab I was able to
successfully upgraded to Solaris 9/10 but I am unable to see any filesystem on
zones. Zones are zfs FS but I can login but nothing is mounted. df -h does not
return anything. can't ssh to zones and no applications are running. but zones
are up and running (zoneadm list -cv) and can zlogin but nothing else is
running. Ifconfig shows interfaces (lo and hme) are up. any suggestions....

/etc/lutab entry
1:BE2:C:0
1:/:/dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0:1
1:boot-device:/dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0:2

What I did,

1. Halt the local zones # zoneadm -z myzone halt
2. Comment out all local zone entries in /etc/zones/index.
3. Comment out all Veritas entries in /etc/vfstab.
4. Remove all the references to mirror disk from SVM using metadetach,
metaclear, metadb, metastat
5. Rebooted the machine and server is running on single disk slice.
6. Remove the existing Solaris Live Upgrade packages:
   pkgrm SUNWlucfg SUNWluu SUNWlur SUNWluzone
7. Install the Solaris Live Upgrade packages from the CD.
# cd /OS_Location/Solaris_10/Tools/Installers
# ./liveupgrade20
    Accept the defaults during installation.
verify the package SUNWluzone is installed, if not install it from
    /OS_Location/Solaris_10/Product

8. Apply Other required patches as per the live upgrade doc (821-1910).
   pkgadd -d . SUNWadmap SUNWadmlib-sysid SUNWadmr SUNWlibC

10. Create the new Boot Environment (BE):
Create and populate the new Boot Environment:

lucreate -m /:/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0:ufs -m -:/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s1:swap -m
/var:/dev/dsk/c1t0d0s4:ufs -l /var/tmp/solnew1.err -n BE1

Subject: Issue with live upgrade.

Gurus,
I tried to upgrade the system with live upgrade. Current patch level is
138888-07 (Solaris 10 10/08) and trying to upgrade it to 9/10 release. I
installed live upgrade packages. In fact I already use live upgrade for other
systems but there was no issue with. It was pretty straight forward. I got the

following error when I run the lucreate command. I really appreciate any
suggestions and feedback.

Determining types of file systems supported
Validating file system requests
ERROR: no boot environments are currently defined
ERROR: cannot determine list of all boot environment names
ERROR: cannot cross reference device </dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0> with system
configurations
ERROR: device </dev/dsk/c1t1d0s0> is not available for use with mount point </>
ERROR: cannot create new boot environment using file systems as configured
ERROR: please review all file system configuration options
ERROR: cannot create new boot environment using options provided

Thank you
KS
