SUMMARY: Notebook for support.

Thanks to all who replied. The general consensus is a refurbished Thinkpad. 
No one mentioned any other brand. Do we know something other notebook users 
don't?

Chris (kingsqueak at kingsqueak.org) has this to say about USB-> serial 
adaptors: " ... the USB serial dongles are HORRIBLE for freezing up and also 
for sending a break at random points while in use."

I shudder to think what one of those would do to one of our production 
firewalls ($ 10^6 / hour financial traffic! ).

ttg (ttg at charter.net) reminded me to look at Ebay for a 240. A sudden flash 
of the blindingly obvious! I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I'll be able to 
buy my own system back!
