Thanks everyone

Received about 50 replies saying about the same 9600 baud 8-N-1, no flow control.

The box had went to the 'ok' prompt by pulling out the terminal concentrator and plugging in a laptop.

Apparently to get the laptop to work I would need to bounce the box.  Not what I wanted to do.  Phoned the excellent staff at Demon who logged into the concentrator and typed go for me.

Thanks again everyone.  Too many to mention but you know who you are.
