nslookup and ping problems

I am experiencing a weird problem with name resolution.  I can do a nslookup
and it works fine, but if I try to ping the same name it fails.
example
XXXXXX:/etc/ > nslookup yahoo.com
Server:  xxxx.com
Address:  192.168.1.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    yahoo.com
Addresses:  216.115.108.245, 216.115.108.243

xxxxxxx:/etc/ > ping yahoo.com
ping: unknown host yahoo.com

Any help is appreciated.
