avatar installation library issue on solaris 9

hi
I'm trying to install vexus avatar on solaris 9. I
appreciate a lot of people might not have heard of
this so I'll try to keep my problem generic, as its
basically a library issue.
When I install the package I get -
ld.so.1: avatared: fatal: libc.so.1: version
`SUNW_1.21.2' not found (required by file
/usr/lib/libthread.so.1)
ld.so.1: avatared: fatal: libc.so.1: open failed: No
such file or directory
ld.so.1: avatared: fatal: relocation error: file
/usr/lib/libpthread.so.1: symbol __pthread_init:
referenced symbol not found

Looking at my libc.so.1 looks fine to me.

# pvs /usr/lib/libc.so.1 | head -5
        libdl.so.1 (SUNW_1.4, SUNWprivate_1.1);
        libc.so.1;
        SUNW_1.21.2;
        SUNW_1.21.1;
        SUNW_1.21;
Theres also a libc.so.1 in the avatar install which I
try to point to with LD_LIBRARY_PATH but no luck with
that either. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
