My initial question was:

I got responses of several kinds:
        1/ read the cd cover 		  	- mine was blank!
        2/ read the 4.1.3 release notes  	- they've gone AWOL ?
        3/ run the `install_patch' command	- there isn't one
        4/ run `/usr/etc/extract_patch'		- would have worked except ...
And the winners:
        5/ DONT USE IT	 - the patches have been superceded.  The 
                           new #s are below

You should *not* use the Sun-4m Supplement CD. It contains two patches,
100743-02 and 100744-02, both of which have been superseded by patch
100726-10.
