ld.so: swap space exhausted for mmap data of /usr/lib/libc.so.1.8
------------------------------------------------------
And the jury is in. Thanks to the overwhelming and very consistent response,
the problem was indeed caused by a lack of sufficient swap space. In fact, the
available swap space was less than 1/2 of actual memory! I did a mkfile to add
more swap and haven't had a problem since (which is very good considering that
our user base just increased by 20+ people!)
Many thanks to all 31 of you who responded. You may have saved me and my
project from a great deal of embarrassment...
Many thanks also to those of you who gave me great tips on how to
monitor/detect memory problems on an ongoing basis.
